Lucky number 13

Today I got the letter I'd been hoping for - my 13th Black Horse Western has been accepted for publication. *bounces*

'The Judas Metal' is the third, and probably last, story about Cullen/Williams and Hyde. It's the follow-up to 'Cullen's Quest' and 'Hyde's Honour'. Nice comments from the publisher too - "I enjoyed The Judas Metal, which starts off in a low key and then becomes extremely dramatic. It is a very accomplished piece of work".

(yes, I'm bragging. but then, the payment is pin money, so I take what I can)

Williams and Hyde are now partners in a silver mine, and Williams is set to marry his sweetheart, Conchita. One of the more conservative members of her aristocratic family disapprove of her marrying an Anglo, and Williams becoming patron of her father's hacienda. So Ramon works at setting Hyde and Williams against one another. As soon as I had this idea, it put me in mind of a certain Blakes 7 episode. B7 fans may be amused to know that the penultimate chapter ends with one man pointing his gun at the other and demanding:
"Have you betrayed me ? Have you betrayed me ?"

How could I resist ?

Congratulations, I've just today finished reading, and enjoying, Darrow's Badge. I am going to request the next in the series after I get off here, Deputy Pacey was just too perfect.

I'm glad you've enjoyed the book. 'Darrow's Badge' is actually the third of the three - 'Darrow's Law', 'Darrow's Word' and 'Darrow's Badge' is the order.
Deputy Pacey was fun to write, but then so are Sheriff Darrow and Deputy Keating, or course.

Getting in at the end of a trilogy is something I have a habit of doing, I will just have to go back to the beginning and see how the partnership started.

You do realise that you are in danger of becoming our 'pet celebrity' -"Oh, yes - tv appearances... and heading towards a score* of published books!..." ;D

* slight exaggeation - but one has to when one is bragging up your clever and talented friends!
:D

WELL DONE - AGAIN!! :D

Thanks to everyone for good wishes. Do you realize that this is just over four months since the previous acceptance ? A miracle !

Actually, I started both some time ago, 'The Judas Metal' before 'Silver Express', in fact. I seem to have lost a mass of plotting notes I was sure I had, though,so had to work it out all over again. The final version isn't quite the same as the first, I know that, even though I can't quite remember exactly how the first version went.
