Tomorrow (Friday) is the night of my Mastermind broadcast. It'll be on the telly at the Hillsborough Hotel, so come and join me there to watch it.
Mastermind is on at 8.00, but there's also a beer festival, so it's recommended to get there in good time to find a seat in the tv room.
Let's see how many of you get more in the general knowledge round than I do !

Red Scharlach makes fabulous icons (like this one) and puts up some great posts. You should read the two she did recently about the old Dr Who movies (which is where the colourful daleks come from) - they're brilliant.

Holy Moly, that was tense. Even knowing the result. Claire and I were screaming NERO!!!! at you :-)

I was struggling to choose between a couple of names, and Nero was certainly one of them. I'd have known it for certain about 20 years ago, mind.

I should have copies on region-free dvds to send abroad soon. And I entirely forgot to buy recordable dvds when I was in town this afternoon, even though I was there for three hours, doing nothing in particular.

Oooh yay!! Sign me up...

Hey, how are you feeling these days...was reading about your drug trial stuff...
18th Oct, 2008 13:51 (UTC)
The stuff I posted about earlier this week isn't a drug trial. I've just started taking a well-known ms drug. It was a new experience for me so I thought I'd document it once - I shan't bore everyone with the details each week but wanted friends to know why I might be unavailable or cranky once a week. I had a heacache Thursday morning but have been feeling fine since.

I did take part in a trial for a new ms drug earlier this year, if you've been reading old posts. The drug itself was fine (of course, I may have had the placebo) - the bloodtests were far more of a nuisance.

thanks for asking, anyway, and how are you are settling into the mansion ? And you'll have to email me your new address so I can send you the dvd.

Nearly missed this as I got the idea it was NEXT Friday!

Well done!

ps 4 out of 5 on the tie-break questions. ( hadn't a clue on the music? one )

Thanks for the kind cooments. I see from your profile that our mutual friends here are old school Fforde forumers - were you there too ?

I'm glad you weren't against me in the tie-break then :)

We watched, albeit in the comfort of home ;-) Well done! I've never seen it go to a tie-break before :-) We were sitting going "two, Gillian, you only need two!" ;-)

I didn't know I needed 2 points of course. I'm still amused that I won on Mastermind because I'd learned about whittchety grubs from watching 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here'.

I've just watched it on iPlayer! Gosh, that was close! Always lure the opposition into a false sense of security, that's what I say...

You mean by getting the lowest score in the general knowledge round ?

Actually, being a small female can do that anyway. When I was first on 15-1, I made it to the last 4 or 5 in the second round. The friend who was with me said opponents had nominated me to answer more questions than anyone apart from the eventual three finalists. I guess the people who nominated me thought I be an easy target to get rid off. After all, I had to stand on a box to be visible from the front of the podium.

Way to go Gillian!
