Rather alarming

I mentioned a week or so back that the smokle alarm in the kitchen was faulty and needed attention. I'd told the Landlord, and he'd emailed back to say he'd be in touch.

Well, this afternoon, heard an ominous noise, which I tracked down to the kitchen. A kind of crackling, sparking sound, accompanied by a smell of ozone/burning. Yup, it was the smoke alarm. There's no way of turning it off unless I turn off the entire fire alarm system for the house (all four flats). I gave it a prod (with a pole) to shove it together better, as it's held together with gaff tape, which quietened it down. Then phoned the landlord and reported the problem. (I hardly ever phone him - I prefer to email). He told me he'd get onto it.

Some 15 mins later, Landlord junior phoned to say an electrician is on his way, and would arrive in the next 30-40 mins. It's good that Landlord has taken this seriously

Edit: electrician has arrived already

If Landlord had done something when I'd first told him, he'd not have to be paying for an emergency electrician now.
