Booze porn

I thought I'd better include study of booze, and especially liqueurs, as part of my General Knowledge. I hope to be able to remember the difference between, say, framboise and fraise, if necessary.. In the course of my research - done strictly though reading, and not by sampling, I found this web site, and its pages of fabulous liqueuers. Bottle after bottle of tempting stuff. Some interesting bottles too. Chambord comes in a splendidly tacky bottle that looks rather like the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. Or there's a violet-flavoured liqueur, which sounds lovely, but is far to expensive for me, or elderberry liqueur, or a fig creme liqueur, or butterscotch liqueur, or.......

Chambord does come in a rather ostentatious bottle. It's also really good added to hot cocoa or a chocolate milkshake. Or used to make truffles or ganache for a cake.

The alcohol in my house is generally there for flavoring baking rather than drinking, so in my house I have Chambord, Amaretto, peppermint schnapps, brandy, and vodka (for painting food color onto icing).

I have some amaretto, which is lovely in cocoa. I also use it in this recipe for amaretto mousse, which is delicious
