It's been one of those days

Spent a while virtously vacuuming the bathroom, hall and stairs, doing the stairs particularly thoughtly. Carried the cleaner back upstairs, only I wasn't holding it by the handle at the back, but by one of the tools stored there. Which came loose just as I'd carried the machine to the top of the stairs. I was just about to step onto the landing, when the whole thing slipped free and plummeted back down to the hall.

After reassembling the blessed object, I had a small black plastic widget left over, and later found a tiny screw. The quick release front panel for changing the cylinder has lost a couple of square inches from the top left, but other than that, it seems to be OK. Need to seal the gap where the front bit is broken though. Need to see if I can get a replacment panel for it.

I wonder what the black plastic widget does ?

Rule #10: When re-assembling household electronics, appliances, and automobiles, having an extra fastner is okay. Feel free to use in hanging pictures on the way, securing the back on the remote, ect until the device shakes apart. Then just tighten the remaining fastners and try again.

Rule #9: When re-assembling household electronics, appliances, and automobiles, having an extra object made out of molded plastic or metal is generally not a good thing. It's made a special shape for a reason, meaning that device will function fully for some odd weeks until some hither to unknown vital function will cease operating as soon you manage to loose said extra part.

Might want to check the instruction manual for a diagram and try to see where it goes.

Hope it goes well. :-(
