the small print

When I was in town yesterday, I decided to get a bar of something as a quick snack. I thought'd I'd avoid chocolate and get something a bit lower calorie, so picked up a Kellog's Nutrigrain Bar.

Having second thoughts, I looked at the info on the Nutrigrain wrapper, then compared it to the Dairy Milk Turkish Delight bar, which is a similar size. The Nutrigrain bar has 355kcal: the chocolate-coated turkish delight has 230 kcal. The Nutrigrain contrains slightly more sugar, and 0.3g of salt, whereas the chocolate has no salt (though with very low blood pressure, I'm not worried about salt myself).

The nutrigrain does have added b-group vitamins, and some minerals, but I get those anyway in my diet and don't need to rely on snacks for them. It has less fat than the chocolate, but way more calories overall.

The chocolate was on special offer. Guess which I bought.

Hmmm, healthy bar snacks are never healthy in my opinion. Anyway, good choice with the chocolate! :)
