I ordered a couple of books via www.Abebooks.co.uk earlier this week. The first one arrived yesterday. I'd ordered a hardback copy of 'Seats In All Parts', by Leslie Halliwell. It's his autobiography, and is mostly about going to the cinema in the 30''s and 40's, and life in Bolton at the time.

Anyway, when I opened the envelope, I discovered they've sent me a paperback edition, with a couple of nasty dents in the back cover, that pierce the paper. I already have a paperback copy, and wanted the hardback with dust jacket as a present for Mum, so I'm not happy, especially as the postage was on the high side for a hardback, let alone a paperback. So I've filed a return notification, and will have to send it back. Grrrr.

The other book arrived today (from another seller), and there's no problem with that. It was very well wrapped though - bubblewrap surrounded by a plastic bag, wrapped in brown paper. Took a while to get at the book, as everything was sealed with parcel tape. I did get some extra use from the parcel tape though. The fabric shade of my bedside lamp needed cleaning, so I used the still-sticky tape to clean it up before I threw the tape away. That's one little chore done !
