I've got a Silver Machine

Getting to grips with the new pc. The tower is silver, the keyboard is black with silver trim, the mouse is black and the new printer scanner is black with silver trim, and I have a silver desk lamp. Sadly, my moniter is old-fashioned grey/beige and rather lets the side down, but never mind.  Everything else looks sleek and modern. I had to check four or five rock cds before I found the one with Hawkwind on it, to play in celebration.

I've set the desktop colours the same as I used on the old OS and have the same wallpaper. So when I look at the monitor, it doesn't seem too different to the old pc and OS, but when online, things happen so much faster. Computer came with a version of Works installed, but when I looked at Word, it didn't have some of the stuff I'm used to. So installed the version from the Home Essentials 97 cd I've used for the last 9 years. Which meant fiddling with all the settings again, turning off auto spellcheck and grammar check, and killing Clippie as fast as possible. I haven't seen that blasted thing on my screen for 9 years, and I don't see any reason to start now.

I've got rid of some of the pre-installed junk, like potention connections to broadband providers I'm not interested in. I suspect, however, there's more work to be done to make things the way I want them.

And why did they have to go change the look of the cards in Freecell ? No likey.
