Food, glorious food.

Back at the cutting horse competition today, this time running a buffet lunch. Fabulous smoked brisket sandwiches with either potato chips or potato salad. Choclate or banana cake or a cookie, and a choice of sodas, bottled water or iced tea. I was looking after the drinks and cakes. The competition and our stall were indoors which meant we weren't out in the sun, which was good. I've been drinking root beer, which I like and is harder to find in the UK. Some places sell it but not so many.

Friday for tea, we have chicken pasta and sweetcorn, and wedges of watermelon. Ron's family were eating their watermelon along with the pasta, which seems strange to me. I ate mine afterwards, as dessert. Grandma likes to shake a little salt on her watermelon.

I also discovered that standard slices of bread are smaller here than in the UK. They seem to be about an A6 size, almost half the size of each slice in the UK. No wonder Americans's make sandwiches with rolls of various kinds. The loaves just aren't big enough to make satisfying sandiwches.

We're having barbeque for supper tonight, which should be good. Ron is planning to part-cook the steaks here in the restaurant and finish them on the gas grill at home. Should be good.
