Speak up for the right to speak up.

From The Woodland Trust's current e-newsletter:

"The Government wants to restrict your right to have a say in major planning decisions like new roads, airports and power stations? We’re concerned that if these plans go ahead, valuable habitats, including ancient woodland, will come under threat from major developments and there will be little anyone can do about it.

You may have seen adverts placed by the Woodland Trust, and other organisations concerned about these proposals in the national papers. And, as part of the
Planning Disaster Campaign, a planning application to build an incinerator was placed on St Paul’s Cathedral.

Please take action before the 17th of August
to prevent the Government restricting your right to affect these damaging developments."

The government has published a white paper which severely limits the input of local communities in major planning decisions. A coalition of organizations has formed the Planning Distaster campaign to draw attention to this paper, and the changes it will bring. The member organizations are the Campaign to Protect Rural England, Friends of the Earth, The Wildlife Trust, RSPB, The Ramblers, Transport 2000, the New Economic Foundation, the Woodland Trust and the National Trust. If you click on the link above, you can find out more, and discover how to register your protest, if you feel so inclined.
