I've been feeling a little light-headed the last day, so took myself off to the Drop-In centre at the Hallamshire, which is just a nice stroll away. The sinusitis has pretty much cleared up, but it turns out that it's lead to a middle ear infection. *sighs*.

When I got home, I did like the nurse said, and had a steam inhalation, adding a gloop of Vicks. It seems to have helped, so I'll do it again tomorrow if I'm still a bit woozy.

More cheerful news: home cooking this evening. Cauliflower and potato soup for tea, followed by pear crumble. Both very good, especially the crumble. I sloshed some rum into the pears for added oomph. Forgot to add any cinnamon, like I'd intended, but never mind.

Met the new neighbour in the basement flat. Name of Lilia, from somewhere Eastern Europe, at a guess, here as post-graduate/research type. I have a BA (hons) and I'm probably the least-qualified person in the house - apart from my cats.

Eeep - hope you feel better soon!

I continually suspect Minsky of having a PhD...

Hope you feel better soon. I'm just having an allergy/asthma attack from a combination of tree pollen and having to work with mice today because the undergrad who usually does so has disappeared to work on end of term papers.

BTW, hullo, and thanks for friending me back (and thanks to sloopjonb to mentioning you were here).

BTW, you might like the cakes I made a couple weeks ago if you've not seen them, since I know you're a fellow Bibliophile:

Oh I saw the cakes; they look fabulous. The whole event sounds like a lot of fun. Food, music and dancing - how very civilized.

I did a Playford style dance at a folk dance festival once. Wasn't actually from Playford, but a contemporary. I enjoyed it, but was somewhat boggled by being about the tallest person in the set of four (all women, as not enough men available to dance with). I'm only 5' 1", so beig the tallest doesn't happen very often among adults.

And thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

It was a lot of fun. I'll be going to a similar event in Madison, Wisconsin later this month, which should be fun. I won't be running anything, so it'll be less stress (aside from the 400 mile drive to get there, of course).

I'll also get to see a friend who is getting married in Iowa the week before and her husband (I can't make it to the wedding). She was bummed that I was too far away to do her wedding cake, so I'm going to make a small one (~20 servings) and bring it along to the event as a gift (and probably put it on the dessert revel table there).

BTW, if you scroll further back in my journal (February I believe) there's a video of me and 2 friends doing an italian reniassance dance. Sadly, whatever conversion was done to put it on YouTube left the sound out of sync, so it looks a bit odd.
