I went into town this afternoon, as I need a new raincoat for summer. After goggling at the prices of the fancy all-terrain stuff in Blacks, I found something OK in TJ Hughs for £20. It's not like I want it for walking across mountains - keeping me dry while walking to the pub, mre like. And, more immediately, keeping me dry if necessary in the Botanical Gardens tomorrow evening, watching Twelfth Night. I was momentarily baffled by the label inside the coar. The raindrop symbol is a funny shape, rather squatter than the usual teardrop, giving the initial impression that the coat is proof against wind, sun, snow and marmite.

I also stopped at the market and got a minted lamb steak and new potatoes for tea. Mmmm, good.

I just found what may be the perfect book for any mechanically-monded Goblins - Baby, fix my car
