Mary had a little lamb

And so did I, but I managed to make it last for three meals.

Gary came over on Thursday night. I'd bought and frozen two lamb shanks a few weeks earlier, so I wanted an excuse to cook them. I pot roasted them with onion, a little garlic, carrots, rosemary and some beef stock. I served them with new potatoes and broccoli, and added Bisto to the pot liquid to thicken it and make a gravy. The lamb was almost falling off the bone and the carrots tasted especially good. I made fruit salad for dessert and the whole meal was good.

There were some carrots and onions left in about a pint of liquid afterwards, so I threw in the remaining potatoes and put it in the fridge.

Friday, I added a couple of dumplings and a can of baked beans and reheated it for a tasty, thick stew. When I'd done eating the solids, there was still a good half pint of liquid left over, so that went back in the fridge.

Today I  reheated that and had a helping of rich lamb and tomato broth, with fresh bread, for tea.

Good food and thrift in one, tasty deal. Excellent !
