First position

This evening I went with Helen to see The Nutcracker at the Lyceum. We had seats in the second row of the circle, near the middle, which gave us an excellent view. The Lyceum is quite small, and when the whole corps de ballet were on stage they did look like they could do with a little more space, but they managed well nonetheless.
The theatre itself is a Victorian/rococco froth that was restored in 1990. Fancy plasterwork, gilded decorations, a very elaborate proscenium arch - it's a delightful confection inside  The production was lovely - pretty costumes with lots of sparkle and lovely sets. The dancing was excellent. The dancers looked so light and airy, though when eight or so dancers were all doing a jete at the same time, there was an incongruous thud as they all landed. The skill and stamina of the dancers is amazing.
I was somewhat distracted when the prince was on stage, due to the close fitting nature of his tights, combined with a tunic that barely reached his hips.. Every time he turned his back to the audience to walk upstage, we were treated to a lovely view of well-toned ass.

Beautiful buns aside, we had a lovely evening.
